IMO, it's a solidly executed version of mahjong with a few fun twists. The storyline (while basic and not particularly well integrated with the gameplay) adds a feeling of purpose to the proceedings, so you feel like you're doing more than just flipping tiles, and the timed "combo meter" and powerups add both strategy and urgency to a boardgame that can sometimes seem dull and mindless.Is it a must-play? No, but there's enough content and entertainment value to make it well worth the price of admission.. Rather clever Mahjong Solitaire with new gimmicks, power ups and a background story which can be skipped if chosen to. Tile sets are beautiful.. Has 6 chapters with about 10 games each.And 232 extra games, some super hard.You can take one piece off the board and put it aside. Solving tile on tile problem.Graphics are great, but sometimes has the left-right reversed.Boss games use 3-match instead of Mahjong.. This game is both frustrating and fun. The story, the graphics, the UI, the tile set symbols, amount of content are all good. Excellent, in fact.The problem is that thried to take Mah Jong solitaire and make an action game out of it. You are supposed to solve the puzzles as fast as you can, using power ups (cheats basically). That could be overlooked and ignored, but so many of the lvels are so poorly designed, probably 30% of them, that you need to use the power ups to beat the stage.. And that sucks up the fun you had been having up to then. I'd recommend it, because there aren't a whole lot of games on steam like this. But it's somewhat targic, with more effort in layout design they could have had a great game. This is a Mahjong game with some type of story with it.I did not follow the story and instead just tried to solve the puzzles which is really fun.It isn't very expensive for the experience that you get,however I wouldn't pay the steam price for it.. You're expected to think through your moves so you don't run out of available matches (although you constantly will, even if you do plan ahead and use powerups), but you're also expected to make matches very, very quickly to keep your combo meter up.Somehow they've turned the relaxing game of Mahjong into a stressful, unfun experience.. I haven't gotten very far, but I really like this game. Sure, there are timed levels, but you don't automatically fail if you odn't meet the time. The one thing I'd want, though, is a way to undo a move.. Its funny but you need a lot of patience if you wanna play this game. I like the art style, I the the story. The game is fun and the powerups make it interesting. Still a little buggy. I got stuck on level 8 (billiard room) and it was on this level that the game ate 3 of my little magic powerups and I had to restart it to keep playing. Downloaded on my mac and I can't exit the game without a force quit or taking it out of fullscreen mode. It looks gorgeous on the retina screen! but super annoying to exit. I also tried adding a new profile while playig on my mac, and was unable to type a player name. It worked again after restarting the game.The game just came out, so there's bound to be minor annoyances and buggy things.. The other negative reviews are right. Most of the hands require power ups to complete because the layout is not a winnable configuration. Power ups are not awarded at the rate they need to get used. Very poor.Plus some genius decided that a Mahjong game *just needs* to have match 3 battles (where they don't bother telling you the rules) at various points in the game. If I wanted match 3, I would have purchased match 3.If you like achievements, this is probably not the game for you - unless you like timed Mahjong unwinnable layouts. Very disappointed in this game.
